The purpose of this case study was to understand the life experience and coping behavior of a pregnant woman who received termination of pregnancy due to fetal abnormality in the 2nd trimester of pregnancy. Data were collected through nursing process recording and analyzed with content analysis Three main areas of life experience were inductively identified: (1) Initial impact reaction on hearing of fetal abnormality. (2) Recollection and reintegration of pregnancy period experience. (3) During recollecting and reintegrating pregnancy period experience, and gradual detachment from the existence of fetus. Her coping behaviors were: religious beliefs, accepting fate, rationalizing, delighting in taking part in a maternal serum screening campaign and avoiding recalling the tragic setting. The findings of this case study can provide useful information for nurses when caring for such women.
