在全球化的競爭趨勢下,兩岸外語大學無不站在第一線,肩負爲社會培養適用的外語人才的重責,本文藉由分析五所知名外語大學的教育目標與使命,破解外語應用之功利迷思,探討大學教育的核心價值深化落實的可能性,而能確切掌握社會動脈的需求與轉變,並以文藻外語學院承襲自天主教吳甦樂修會的教育精神爲例,稟持以精良的語言專業運用,開拓國際視野,發揮領導優勢,傳遞卓越價值觀,而達成實踐服務人群的使命。
As pioneers under global competition, universities of foreign languages inevitably assume the responsibility of nurturing professionals in related fields. By analyzing the mission and education goals of five distinguished universities of languages, this paper attempts to investigate into the myths and obsession for foreign language learning and discuss the possibilities of integrating core values into university education while meeting the social changes and demand for high-end language professionals. With core values rooted in the Catholic education of the Ursuline Sisters, Wenzao College maintains practices with regards to cultivating high language proficiency and professionalism, developing world views and cultural adaptability, and seeking leadership and excellence, all embedded in a mission to serve humanity.
