〈降魔變文〉是以佛經中的故事為題材之講唱文學,《賢愚經》則為其主要題材。《賢愚經》等佛經皆以教義傳達作為目標,變文則是透析出佛經中的「神奇、變幻」成份,並將之轉他成吸引民眾的娛樂性故事,兩者創作目的完全不同。本文認為〈降魔變文〉與《賢愚經》之間最大差異在於是否追求娛樂性質,在構成〈降魔變文〉故事趣味性的要素中,講述部分表達技巧可視為提高故事娛樂性的重要成份,故擬著重講述部分之修辭特色探討〈降魔變文〉之故事趣味性。|"Jiang-mo Bianwen" is singing literature created with the story seen in "Xian-yu Jing" as the main theme. "Xian-yu Jing" and other Buddhist scriptures were created for doctrinal evangelism, in contrast, most of the Bianwens were created by extracting "wonder" elements in Buddhist scriptures to make it a story that interests the general public. This paper focus on the fact that the greatest feature of "Jiang-mo Bianwen" which is different from "Xian-yu Jing" is the story created for entertainment purposes, study various elements that compose the interest as a story of "Jiang-mo Bianwen", such as scenario and contents devised for the general public, and rhetoric to enliven the story.
