The present study aims at adopting the projective visual cards in group counseling practice for junior high school students to explore the mood regulation and life adjustment of bereaved teenagers. Six bereaved junior high school students participated in this project for twelve consecutive weeks after the pilot study. Data were collected through "Scale of Grief Reaction and Coping Behavior," "Scale of Life Adjustment Ability for High School Students," and semi-structure interviews to investigate students' viewpoints toward the impacts and benefits of the projective visual cards in group counseling. The results showed that the projective visual cards significantly alleviated students' sadness, specifically emotionally and physically. The impacts of the projective visual cards included triggering students' recall of negative experience, their resistance against it, and their retrospect of profound experience, while the benefits involved arousing self-expression, stimulating the discussion about richer inner personal issues, enhancing particular self-understanding, promoting emotion expression and regulation, providing insightful feedback through the cards projection, reframing the experience of loss and helping with decision-making towards life. The results mentioned above elicited a further discussion, and the present study shed light on recommendations on group counseling practice for further research.
