條碼資訊系統科技提升某病房醫療設備點班效率之專案

Project Using Information Systems with Barcode Technology to Improve Efficacy in Managing Medical Equipment Supplies at a Hospital Ward

摘要


醫療設備點班屬非直接護理病人之事務,而護理人員卻不得不注入許多時間導致抱怨工作及延遲下班。本專案現況分析發現醫療設備點班耗時、效率差、點班作業滿意度不高,歸納原因包括點班項目及數量多、紙本點班作業政策沿習舊制、設備使用與借物流程不完善,故針對醫療設備點班進行專案改善點班效率與滿意度。藉由團隊共同重新修訂醫療設備管理作業原則、建置與推定醫療設備點班作業資訊系統及條碼掃描讀取儀器資料、安排教育訓練及實際演練等以提昇效率與改善流程。經專案實施,醫療設備點班時間由每班平均35.2分鐘,降低至平均7.8分鐘;點班品項由52項降低至為9項;點班作業的滿意度由80.4%提升至95.6%。本專案建立簡化版點班作業原則與條碼掃描系統,減少護理工作中非專業核心的一般事務所佔之時間比例,增進醫療設備管理效率,而有助營造好的工作環境。

Inventorying medical equipment is not directly related to nursing affairs; yet nursing staff cannot but spend a great deal of time on it, with complaining and delays in getting off work. Our working group conducted a situation analysis of time spent with, inefficiencies in, and nurses' dissatisfaction toward medical equipment inventorying. Causes included large numbers of items to be inventoried; paper-based inventory policies that adhere to outdated systems; and defects in equipment usage and check-out procedures. We thus formulated programmatic improvements in inventory efficiency and satisfaction with regard to medical equipment inventory management. The strategies involved the working group collectively reformulating the principles for medical equipment inventory management, establishing and implementing an information system for the medical equipment inventory process, developing bar code scanner information, offering training courses and hands-on practice for nurses, and other efforts to raise efficiency and make process improvements. Time spent on inventorying medical equipment went from 35.2 to 7.8 minutes each shift; the number of checking items reduced from 52 to 9. Satisfaction with the inventory process has increased from 80.4% to 95.6%. This project established streamlined inventory process principles and a barcode scanning system, which reduced time occupied by general, non-core tasks as a portion of nurses' work. This brings improvements in medical equipment managing efficiency, and helps to build a better working environment.
