台灣職業棒球隊跨期效率的評估

An Evaluation on the Inter-Season Efficiency of Taiwanese Professional Baseball Teams

摘要

本研究利用2000年至2002年間的中華職棒聯盟的四個球隊（兄弟象、統一獅、興農牛、中信鯨）與台灣職棒大聯盟的四個球隊（台北太陽、台中金剛、嘉南勇士、高屏雷公），先利用主成分分析法，萃取出二個投入因素（管理能力、球員戰力）與二個產出因素（球隊勝率、主場平均觀眾人數），再透過Malmquist生產力指數分析，並將Malmquist生產力指數分解為Malmquist指數與追趕效率，研究結果為台灣職業棒球隊經營型態可分為：（1）不負所託型－兄弟象、興農牛與中信鯨；（2）奮發向上型－統一獅；（3）老天保佑型－台北太陽、台中金鋼與高屏雷公；（4）坐吃山空型－嘉南勇士型。此外，發現台灣那魯灣大聯盟的四支球隊分別可被歸類為老天保佑型與坐吃山空型，此或許可解釋台灣職棒大聯盟解散的原因。

The subjects of this study are the four teams (brother elephants, president lions, hsin-non bulls, and china trust whales) in the chinese professional baseball league, and the four teams (taipei gida, taichung agan, chia-nan luka and koa-ping fala) in the taiwan major league. By means of using main component analysis, two input factors (managerial capacity, player's power in winning games) are extracted. Along with two output factors (team's winning rate, the average spectators at home game), through malmquist productivity index analysis, this study is to analyze the inter-season efficiency of taiwanese professional baseball teams. The malmquist productivity index analysis in the study is divided into malmquist index and chase efficiency. Based on this, the managerial types of taiwanese professional baseball are categorized into: (1) type of meeting the expectation of the spectators: brothers elephants, hsin-non bulls, and china trust whales, (2) type of striving for upgrading: president lions, (3) type of being protected by god: taipei gida, taichung agan, and kao-ping fala, (4) type of sitting idle and eating, and in time one's fortune will be used up: chia-nan luka. Additionally, the four teams belong to taiwan major league can be categorized into types of being protected by god and sitting idle and eating, and in time one's fortune will be used up. This is part of the reason why taiwan major league dismiss its four teams.
