In the era of rapid development of information technology, learning wherever you go becomes one of the major trends. The government agencies have been promoting the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and its related research and developments; the technology is reaching its maturity and with the cost reduction, the RFID-based applications are spreading like a wild fire. In recent years, museums in Taiwan started to incorporate the digital technology in the internal managements and public exhibitions; The Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) guided tour is the product of such trend. The new generation PDA is lightweight, easy to carry and with multi medium capability to show contents, sounds and graphics which greatly improves the interaction between the exhibit objects and the museum visitors. This research uses Ling Tung Numismatic Museum as an example to design a PDA guided system, to plan the exhibitions, and to analyze the results by comparing the differences between the PDA and non-PDA guided tours. The results demonstrate that PDA guided tour enhances visitor’s learning and knowledge retention.
