This paper focuses on the rural working girl’s (dagongmei) experiences from leaving home to go to the cities, returning home, and going back to cities again. It explores the reasons and process of working as a marginalized person in the society. Thu urban life has important impacts on her, she gained economic independence and the sense of equality between men and women. This resulted in her marital conflicts and adjustment to the rural life after she returned home. The urban civilization encountered with rural traditions in her marriage, one of the consequences of this encounter is the violence incidents happened constantly in her marriage. From perspective of resources and power distribution, we analyzed the fundamental causes for wife abuse in working girl’s marriage after she returned home. We try to attract the public attention the adjustment issues working girls confronted after the returned home. We also put forward suggestions to the government and social service agencies to help theses women.
