輔仁大學校訓：真善美聖－啟迪真理與生命的道路

輔仁大學自1961年（民50年）在台復校，是輔仁辦學理念和天主教信仰在台灣再次揚帆啟航的起點。輔仁的信念來自於中國傳統文化與基督宗教文化兩個思想的核心，那就是「仁」與「愛」，而輔仁「真、善、美、聖」的校訓，事實上就是環繞這兩個概念延伸和發展的教育理想。在台灣五十年來，當這個理想落實在輔仁這個教育實體上時，造就了一所深具特色的大學，在台灣當今的大學院校中，她也因為擁有悠久歷史及傳統深刻的烙印，仍然是許多人心目中理想的學校。這樣一所擁有傳統聲譽的大學，是如何在台灣這50年的時間中積累出來的？本文欲從于斌樞機主教（任期1961－1978）、羅光總主教（任期1978－1992）、李振英蒙席（任期1992－1996），這三位具有神職身份的校長，藉著他們各以己長所開展的教育理想，以及由相關的思想背景中一探端倪。

Fu Jen Catholic University was reestablished in 1961 in Taiwan, becoming a launchpad for Fu Jen educational philosophy and Christian beliefs to strike to the root of Taiwanese and Chinese culture. University beliefs were developed based on the core concepts of traditional Chinese and Christian cultures. In addition, the school motto of Fu Jen University (”Truth, Goodness, Beauty, and Holiness”) adheres to these concepts and takes them as a foundation to develop an ideal education model. With the implementation of its motto, Fu Jen University successfully evolved into a university with tremendous and unique characteristics. Furthermore, due to the historical background and efforts put forth by former presidents, the university has been publically recognized as an outstanding university. How was this institution able to acquire such a reputation in the fifty years after it was re-founded in Taiwan? This essay focuses on the central thoughts and values of three formal clergy presidents: Cardinal Yu-pin (1961-1978), Archbishop Lo-Kuang (1978-1992), and sgr. Gabriel Ly (1992-1996). In this effort, it considers the possible relationships between their respective personalities and its connection to the success of the university.
