常見室內植物對苯氣體吸收之測試

Measuring the Uptake Rates of Benzene by Common Indoor Plants

摘要


現代人花在室內環境的時間佔日常生活的80-90%,室內空氣品質與人體健康的相關性已不容忽視。揮發性有機物質為室內重要的空氣汙染物,而主正是為致癌物,也是最常見的揮發性有機物質之。本研究欲以苯為對象,篩選出對苯吸收能力較佳的室內植物。本研究選擇一般住家、五金材料店家等室內環境與加油站、馬路旁等室外環境進行揮發性有機物質測量,結果顯示在一般室內環境中,若有使用指甲油或去光水的時候,可達到300ppm以上的讀值,在加油站的油槍周圍30公分與2公尺之處,則分別有平均69ppm以及2.6ppm。本研究取十七種常見室內植物,在小型熏氣箱中以25ppm之苯進行熏氣,測量各種值物在500Lux弱光下之沈降速率。結果顯示,綠帝王蔓綠絨與綠精靈合果芋之吸收效率最高,沈降速率分別為0.14mm/sec與0.16mm/sec。各科植物的沈降速率已經最小顯著差異測驗法檢定之後,結果顯示在500Lux之光照強度下,天南星科沈降速率平均0.07mm/sec,以及鐵角膜科沈降速率0.08mm/s,對苯的吸收效果最好,其次是胡椒科,沈降速率平均為0.06mm/sec。

Most people spend 80% to 90% of their time in indoor environments now, so we must pay attention on indoor air quality and human health. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are major indoor air pollutants, especially in urban areas. Benzene is one of the VOCs found in indoor environment which knew as a carcinogen. Therefore, this research has screened indoor plants with higher absorption rate of benzene. We survey volatile organic compounds at normal houses, hardware material stores, gas stations, and roadsides areas. Results show that if someone use nail polish or polish remover indoors, the VOCs concentration will over 300 ppm. When we sample the area around gas station gas pump at 30 centimeters and 2 meters, the concentrations are 69 ppm and 2.6 ppm. Seventeen common indoor plants were exposed to 25 ppm benzene under 500 Lux light intensies in a 52-L fumigation chamber. Results show that Philodendron 'Imperial Green' and Syngonium podophyllum 'Pixie' have the highest uptake rate of benzene, with deposition velocities as 0.14 mm/ sec and 0.16 mm/sec, respectively. In terms of plant classification the Araceae family and Aspleniaceae family show the higher uptake rate.
