從企業社會責任到永續發展:宏遠興業的策略轉向

From Corporate Social Responsibility to Sustainable Development: Strategic Transformation of Everest Textile

摘要


本研究旨在探討對於環境破壞與資源浪費上向來備受關注的紡織產業發展永續經營模式的可能性。目前雖有不少紡織企業已經將環保相關議題列為商品研發的重點,但主要是著眼於市場趨勢或是競爭的必要性,而超越獲利的考量之外、對人或環境友善的活動,則以企業社會責任的概念來推動。然而本文認為若想獲得持久的競爭力,台灣的紡織產業應及早導入永續發展的觀點,將企業獲利、愛護地球與關懷社會等三個面向的考量整合到企業的經營目標中,也就是追求「三重盈餘」的方向,並以此為策略核心,將企業的創新能量轉向尋找社會問題的解決方案,試圖從中開拓新市場,同時培植難以模仿的組織能力。本研究的個案企業已經具備了追求永續發展經營模式的雛形,其嘗試值得成為其他紡織企業在尋求突破與升級時的參考。

Because of the quantity of consumption and its environmental impact, the textiles and clothing industry has subject to intense media interest and has been placed under strict scrutiny by the public. Today many textile companies have accepted their responsibility to do no harm to the environment, but beyond greening there lies a more difficult challenge: to develop a sustainable world. Actually, sustainability is now moving to the core of the business agenda, and merges as an integral part of business strategy. As the world becomes more connected and global challenges loom ever larger, business need to redefine its role in society. This challenge is forcing firms to again re-evaluate their approach to measuring organization performance. Under this perception and a sense of crisis, Everest Textile transformed its business objective from profit making to sustainable development. Far more than redesigns its products and process, investing green facilities and applying innovative operations to enhance eco-efficiency, Everest Textile repositioning itself as a sustainable enterprise , which means it contributes to sustainable development by delivering simultaneously economic, social, and environmental benefits, the so-called triple bottom line. Its preliminary endeavor demonstrates another way of upgrading for textile companies in Taiwan.
