PE-NC Semi-IPNs Wood Coatings (II)-Effects of PE and PE-NC Composition on the Properties of Coatings and Films

摘要


本研究係由順丁烯二酸酐、鄰苯二甲酸酐、多元醇以莫耳比1:1:2.05之條件合成不飽和醇酸樹脂,其中多元醇種類有二乙二醇(DEG)、乙二醇(EG)及丙二醇(PG)三種,所合成不飽和醇酸樹脂中添加樹脂重30%之苯乙烯為反應稀釋劑,對全量重1.5%之甲乙酮過氧化物為催化劑、0.1%之環烷酸鈷為促進劑及0.5%十二烷硫醇為氧化防止劑、調配成三種不飽和聚酯(PE)塗料。再利用連續式聚合反應,將三種PE分別與硝化纖維素(NC)依PE/NC重量比為70/30、60/40、50/50及30/70之條件,摻合而成PE-NC半互穿聚合體網狀結構物(PE-NC semi-IPNs),並分析其作為木器塗料之可行性。試驗結果得知,各種類PE-NC semi-IPNs塗料均有隨其NC含量增加,塗料黏度降低,可使用時間延長,乾燥時間縮短之趨勢。PE-NC semi-IPNs之塗膜硬度、拉伸強度、耐溶劑性及耐久性等亦均隨其NC含量增加而提升。整體而言,以PE(PG)作為PE-NC semi-IPNs塗料之原料,且PE/NC重量比為30/70者,具備有較平衡之塗料與塗膜性質,最適用為木器塗料。

Three kinds of unsaturated alkyd resins were synthesized under maleic anhydride: phthalic anhydride: polyhydric glycol=1:1:2.05 (molar ratio), polyhydric glycols, including diethylene glycol, ethylene glycol, and propylene glycol were used respectively. Styrene 30%on the weight of alkyd resin used as reactive diluents, 1.5% of methyl ethyl ketone peroxide as catalyst, 0.1% of cobalt naphthenate as accelerator, and 0.5% of dodecyl mercaptan as oxidation inhibitor (by wt. of resin) were added to formulate unsaturated polyester coating (PE). Meanwhile, PE-NC semi-IPNs (Semi-interpenetrating polymer networks) under PE/NC=70/30, 60/40, 50/50, 30/70 (wt. ratio) respectively, were prepared by sequential polymerization method for wooden coatings The results showed that the higher NC concentration led to lower viscosity, longer pot-life, and shorter drying time of PE-NC semi-IPNs coatings. The hardness, tensile strength, solvent resistance, and durability of PE films also were improved by blending more NC with PE. Generally speaking, PE-NC semi-IPNs with PE/NC=30/70 and containing ethylene glycol had the best balance properties of coatings and films, suitable for wooden coatings.
