Preparation of Thin Targets for 3 MeV Van de Graaff Accelerator Studies

A method is described for the preparation of thin target by means of vacuum evaporation technique for use in the experimental studies of nuclear reaction at low energies. With this method, five thin targets of about 20μg/cm^2 can be obtained in a single evaporation. The preparation of magnesium target is presented as an example, and the determination of thickness of thin target is given.
