Pulmonary tumor embolism is rarely the initial manifestation of cervical cancer. It is difficult to obtain a definite diagnosis because there are neither specific clinical presentations nor noninvasive diagnostic tests. A poor prognosis is expected because of the delay in diagnosis and the consequent irreversible cardiopulmonary alterations. However, a high index of suspicion may help in the early diagnosis of this disease. Herein, we present a 58-year-old female patient with cervical cancer that initially manifested as pulmonary tumor embolism. The subacute onset of symptoms related to cor pulmonale with rapid deterioration and mortality because of massive tumor embolism are noted in the case. Radiographic studies and pathological findings are demonstrated as well.
