西門町與少年

Adolescents in Hsimending

摘要


從個人在西門町生活與成長的生命經驗出發,關切少年們在西門町的生活以及其行為與西門町社區的關聯。在研究方法上,採質化研究的取向,在西門町一間泡沫紅茶店裡從事參與觀察,逐步走入少年與休閒場所共構的青春歲月,並運用立意抽樣和滾雪球抽樣的原則,針對西門町的少年和成人們作訪談,融入少年們的西門町生活,並體會成人們對這裡的使命與依戀;而透過過程中所得資料的累積、對話與歸納,少年行為與西門町之間的互動便從中浮現。 在研究發現上,採用生態系統理論的觀點作分析:發現少年除了受微視系統中家庭、休閒場所、朋友和鄰居的直接影響外;亦受這些微視系統中各體系間互動形成的中介系統所影響,體系間透過交換少年行蹤與近況,增添對少年生活的瞭解,因其彼此互動頻繁,而提高對少年行為的控制,當擁有一致的價值觀時,則加深少年對行為規範的社會學習,具挑戰的環境以及異質性高的朋友,更讓少年不為了追求刺激而從事踰矩的行動;在外部系統中,強調社區效應,指出西門町社區透過凝聚的情感,握有共同的目標,關懷社區少年的發展,視少年議題為社區的責任,並發揮非正式控制的力量,為少年們挺身而出,付諸行動,發揮集體效應;而在此特殊脈絡成長的少年們也發展出其獨特性。在鉅視系統中,社會對於少年行為的期待、少年文化與少年社會工作的價值等,則在後續章節中討論。 根據研究過程與發現,對西門町的少年社會工作的信念、工作方法與未來方向提出建議,並對少年社會工作的本質及研究者個人的價值作探討與反思;最後,延伸本研究結論之意涵,提出一個少年社會工作價值挪動的可能與必須:建議少年社會工作的價值應從期待少年符合主流社會標準成長的角度,挪動到致力於貼近少年文化的方向,接納更多與社會期待有所差異的少年及其生活型式,認同少年本身的價值,回應社會工作中尊重多元與差異的信念,為少年們的成長保留更多可供試驗與喘息的空間,讓少年社會工作更有助於少年的成長。

Based on the personal growth and life experience in Hsimending, this study aimed to probe into the adolescents’ life in Hsimending and the connection of their behaviors with the community. The qualitative research was adopted as the research method, and a bubble tea shop in Hsimending as the base area to observe, gradually walked into the green years constructed by the teenagers with their leisure places. The study used purposive sampling and snowball sampling as the research principle, conducted the in-depth interviews with the teenagers and the adults in Hsimending to integrate with the teenagers’ life and to realize the adults’ vocation and attachment to this place. From the data accumulation, the dialogues, and the induction through the research process, the interaction between the teenagers’ behaviors with Hsimending was emerged. In the research findings, the ecological system theory was adopted as the point of view to analyze: this study found that the teenagers were not only directly affected by the family, leisure places, friends, and neighbors in the micro-system, but also affected by the meso-system formed by the interaction within those various systems of the micro-system. Through the exchange of the teenagers’ whereabouts and situations between the systems, the understanding of the adolescents’ life was increased. Moreover, due to the frequent interaction between each other, the control of the teenager’s behavior was also increased. When the values were corresponding, the teenagers’ social learning of code of conduct was enhanced. The high-challenging environments and high-heterogeneous friends kept the teenagers from transgressing activities for seeking for stimulation. In the exo-system, the Hsimending community was cohered by their emotions; they had a common goal, cared about the teenagers’ developments, took the juvenile issues as the community’s responsibility, brought out the power of the informal control, and actually stepped forward for those teenagers. By growing in such particular context, the teenagers could develop their uniqueness. In the macro-system, the social expectations for adolescent’s behavior and the values of adolescent culture and adolescent social work would be discussed in subsequent chapters. According to the research process and findings, this study offered several suggestions for the belief of adolescent social work in Hsimending, the working methods, and the future directions. Furthermore, the essence of adolescent social work and researcher’s personal belief were explored and reflected. Finally, extend the implication of the study’s conclusions, and offer a possibility and a necessity of the movement of the value of adolescent social work: the value of adolescent social work should not be focused on looking for the teenagers’ growth to match the mainstream of social standards, but moved to put effort into approaching to the adolescent culture, accept more with the teenagers and their life styles which are different from the social expectations, identify their own values, and respond to the belief of respecting for diversity in adolescent social work. Reserve more space for the teenagers to try and rest in the process of their growth, and this allows adolescent social work bring more benefit to the teenagers’ growth.
