The purpose of this paper is to understand motives of audiences who choose to watch local television programs, and to define the ”local culture” in the age of globalization. This paper suggests that a special television text cannot be understood from the prospect of global production and marketing only, because local programs reflect political implications of political change of Taiwan. Furthermore, we can understand text-audience relationship from the perspective of local cultural programs and audiences.
