This study aims at exploring the effect of the curriculum planning for New Taipei City’s Sport Talent Classes (NTCSTC), evaluating if any significant effectiveness has been achieved among students’ academic performances (mainly of the periodical achievement tests and of the Comprehensive Assessment Program for Junior High School Students.) From the subjects, 430 9th-grade students of NTCSTC from 21 junior high schools, during the academic year 2017-2018, the data was collected, including the results of their periodical achievement tests and of a survey on their views about the curriculum planning. According to the researcher’s descriptive statistics, the results revealed that: 1. The number of sport training sections was almost the same among respective New Taipei City’s Sport Talent Classes, 90% of which took into account the compliance with the regulations for their establishment. However, smaller numbers of academic learning sections significantly led to negative effects on students’ learning outcomes. 2. The subjects involved in this study performed poorly on the three periodical achievement tests of the first semester, with their average scores staying below 33% among all the 7th graders 3. There was positive correlation between the number of academic learning sections and the school ranking of periodical achievement tests when unified test papers were exploited in school’s periodical achievement tests, while little correlation was found with individual test papers among different classes. 4. There is positive correlation between the number of academic learning sections and the learning outcomes of the school’s periodical achievement tests and of the Comprehensive Assessment Program for Junior High School Students. Keywords: the Comprehensive Assessment Program for Junior High School Students, the learning outcome, periodical achievement tests
