摘要

新聞在全球化的過程中扮演重要的角色，傳遞訊息並溝通文化。而在文化交流的過程中，翻譯的重要性不容忽視，若放在訊息溝通的框架下來探討，新聞翻譯本身就是研究文化交流與語言交換的有力文本。目前大多數的新聞翻譯研究都受到語言和樣本的限制，大都探討英翻中的新聞編譯，而非純粹的翻譯活動。本論文以「台北時報」的言論版翻譯為研究對象，試圖以既有的新聞翻譯策略為基礎，探討中翻英新聞的策略問題，並與英翻中新聞翻譯策略相互對照，期能描述中翻英新聞內容的翻譯狀況與實際應用的策略。本文以文本分析為基礎，配合深度訪談，試圖由文本分析的結果探討中翻英新聞翻譯工作者應用的策略，並輔以訪談內容，進一步描述新聞內容翻譯的現象，討論譯者在翻譯的過程中，會受到哪些層面的因素所影響。

News disseminates information and promotes cultural exchange, playing a crucial role in the course of globalization. Meanwhile, translation lends its strength to effective exchange of information among different cultures. This phenomenon highlights the significance of news translation. However, owing to the particularity of this translation practice, most of the studies on news translation in Taiwan are restricted to English-to-Chinese translations and are relatively scarce. Drawing on previous studies and researches, the current study attempts to explore the Chinese-to-English news translation practice in Taiwan. The case study of Taipei Times Opinion Page aims to investigate the translation strategies translators apply in practice, a result upon which in-depth interviews were based so as to explore the non-textual factors involved in the translation practice.
