「通識教育」自推行以來,始終停留在實驗與摸索的階段。究其根由,哲學理論基礎薄弱是為一大阻礙。 本文嘗試從目前的「科學精神迷思」與「人文精神迷思」作出發點,企圖釐清「通識教育」的哲學理念基礎。希望能藉由科學、人文與哲學三者之重新思考,對「通識教育」的推行,提出一些具體的建議。 經由本文的探討,我們可知:「科學」的意義已由傳統「真的追求」到「以真涵攝美善」;「人文」的意義亦非「獨善其身」,而是在追求人生「真善美」的圓融境界。此二者其實都是由同一個哲學觀念所統合一整體哲學。 從整體的哲學角度觀之,本文發現人文與科學實在是不可分割的哲學完整體,而「通識教育」便是由此不可分割的整體哲學出發,反省現階段「科學」與「人文」對立而又各自缺然的局面。 因此,本文建議:大學「通識教育」的推行,應屬博雅性(liberal)的「通識教育」,與目前高中以下係常識性(common)的「通識教育」不可混為一談。
Since ”General Education” has been practicing into our school. Up to now, it still stay at experimental and ambiguous period. For lack of philosophical foundation. Teherfore, this research tries to clarify the philosophical theory of General Education from scientism and humanism. And I hope could review the science, human, and philosophy, moreover to propose some suggestions how to spread the General Education. The result of this research can be explained in five parts: 1. The general meaning of scientism includes all the things which present scientific knowledge can or can't explain and should the courage to challenge the unknown things. 2. The general meaning of humanism includes all human activities, no matter what is social science or natural science. 3. Therefore, to synthesize the general meaning of humanism and scientism. We can find these both should be regarded as wholeness. We also could call it ”the holistic philosophy” 4. So, this holistic philosophy could become the basic ideal of General Education-the philosophical foundation of General Education. 5. For the practicing of General Education, I suggest below the high-school should teach the content of common education; above the high-school should teach the content of liberal education.
