[2.2.2.]雙環辛二烯(BOD)與六羰基鉬及六探基鎢共熱時生成複合體(BOD)M_o(CO)_4及(BOD)W(CO)_4。碳(2)及碳(3)上有甲脂基取代之[2.2.2.]雙環辛二烯(DMBOD)與六羰基鉬共熱則生成(DMBOD)_2M_o(CO)_2。在這些反應中沒有發現雙環辛二烯的耦合產物。

The reactions of three derivatives of bicyclo[2.2.2] octa-2,5-diene (BOD) with MO(CO)_6 and W(CO)_6 are described. Three metal complexes are isolated in this study and are identified as (BOD)-tetracarbonylmolybdenum, (BOD)-tetracarbonyltungsten, and bis(2,S-dimethoxycarbonyl-BOD)dicarbonylmolybdenum. The reaction of 2-p-toluenesulfonyl-BOD with hexacarbonylmolybdenum yields only phenyl p-tolyl sulfone via a [4+2] cycloreversion. No dimeric ad ducts of the corresponding dienes have been produced in these reactions.
