First Confirmed Pathological Case Report of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus Infected Cats and Virus Isolation in Taiwan

台灣貓免疫不全病毒病貓之病理確診首例病毒分離

摘要


貓免疫不全病毒(FIV)感染是一類似AIDS的嚴重傳染性貓疾病,根據血清學的調查結果顯示抗體陽性貓分佈全世界,包括台灣。本實驗是以5隻FIV感染貓所做的病理檢查及病毒分離結果,並將做為與國外株之病原性和血清型之比較。分離周邊血液的淋巴球,和FIV之淋巴芽細胞株MYA-1共同在試管內培養30天後,得到4株病毒株,經間接螢光染色法和反轉錄酶活性試驗,証實屬FIV病毒。5隻FIV病貓中的1隻,8歲大,1996年4月死亡,有結膜炎、牙齦炎、消瘦、貧血及粉紅色下痢便等的臨床症狀,經解剖時,肉眼可見肝臟、脾臟和腎臟的黃色及蒼白變化,心室肥厚,顎下淋巴結之腫大,牙齦和口腔黏膜之潰瘍等。組織病理病變呈現大量類澱粉樣變性之物質沉澱於肝細胞和庫伯氏細胞間,和腎絲球體內,顎下淋巴結內可見淋巴小結和淋巴球的減少,而漿細胞則大量侵入髓質內。本報告在台灣是第一個FIV感染貓之病理檢查及病毒分離成功病例。

Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is a serious AIDS-like infectious disease among cats. As the results of epidemiological survey, the distribution of the antibody positive cats is worldwide, including Taiwan. In this study, five FIV infected cats were used for pathological examination and virus isolation, in order to compare the pathogenesis and the serotypes in Taiwan with those in other countries. Blood samples were collected from 5 Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay positive cats for isolating peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs). Virus isolation was done by coculture PBLs and FIV lymphoblast cell lines of MYA-l for 30 days. Four isolates were identified by indirect fluorescent antibody staining and by reverse transcriptase activity test. One of the 5 FIV positive cats, 8 year-old, died with FIV suspected clinical signs of conjunctivitis, gingivitis, emaciation, anemia and pinkish diarrhea, after a long examination of half year, in April, 1996. In gross findings, yellowish discoloration of liver, spleen and kidney, thickening of cardiac ventricles, swelling of submaxillary lymph nodes, and obvious ulceration of gingival and oral mucosa were noted. Also, intestinal interssusception was noted in one part of small intestine into immediately adjacent large intestines. In histopathological findings, massive amyloid-like substance, depositing diffusely in the space of Disse, and also in the glomeruli was noted. Lymphoid follicles and lymphocytes were decreased in the cortex of submaxillary lymph node, whereas massive plasma cells infiltrated in the medulla area. This is the first report of FIV infected cat in pathological examination and virus isolation in Taiwan.
