摘要

甜瓜台南11號為雜交一代品種，屬網紋洋香瓜類型，果肉橙紅色，對洋香瓜白粉病具中抗性，並具有絕佳的耐熱性。自民國86～87年引入抗洋香瓜白粉病種原進行育種前之評估，88年正式提出、執行育種計畫，於民國92年育成抗洋香瓜白粉病自交系計32個，同年進行雜交組合，獲得各式抗洋香瓜白粉病之雜交一代品系376個。其中代號為PR0317之優良品系，經過各級試驗比較結果，其田間生長勢良好，栽培容易，植株早生，具早熟性，耐脫蒂，櫥架壽命佳，果實品質皆達商品果的需求，也適於儲運通路之要求。耐熱性極高，高溫期栽培下糖度仍佳，口感優良，於97年12月審議修正通過，命名為「甜瓜台南11號」。甜瓜台南11號適合台灣南部1月下旬～11月上旬播種，果重依栽培季節與留果數之不同而異，暖季栽培平均果重約1.6公斤，涼季則約為1.4公斤，炎熱氣候下栽培，果重可達2.0公斤以上，各栽培期平均糖度為15°Brix，最高糖度為18.5°Brix。甜瓜台南11號於98年7月15日取得中華民國植物品種權（A00837），並於同年11月25日專屬授權移轉予「和生種子公司」。新品種的育成有利於減少洋香瓜栽培之藥劑施用頻率，維護生產者、消費者與栽培環境的健康。並可取代現行多數的日本栽培品種，朝向洋香瓜品種在地育種的目標。

A new F1 hybrid of muskmelon (Cucumis melo) variety ”Tainan No. 11” was released by the Tainan District Agricultural Research and Extension Station in 2009. The maternal line WR03 (AA-1-2-1-5-2-1-2-13) was selected in 2003 from the progenies of a cross made in 1998 between PI 124111 and アールス. The paternal line WR20 (N17G-7-3-1-3-1-1-1-1) was obtained in 2003 from the progenies of a cross also made in 1998 between the inbred line PI 124111 and a offspring of some wild melon. The two lines WR03 and WR20 were crossed in the fall of 2003 to obtain the line PR0317, i.e. the code number of Tainan No. 11 in the breed process before naming. Due to its superior characteristics in the combining ability test, line comparison trials, regional trials, local trials, screening for resistance to powdery mildew and shelf-life test, the line PR0317 was selected and submitted to the Committee of naming evaluation for new crop varieties, and finally named ”Tainan No. 11” in December 2008 at the Tainan D.A.R.I.S.. The characteristics of this variety include early maturation, more resistant to powdery mildew (MR), medium fruit size with gray-green skin and orange-red flesh, higher soluble solids content and longer shelf-life, oval-round fruit shape with fine and dense nets on the surface. It can also be grown under relatively higher temperature with good quality. This new variety can be grown from late winter in January to early winter in November in the low land areas in Tainan district. The average weight per fruit is usually at 1.4 ~ 1.6 kg, the weight of fruit might up to 2.5 kg in hot season. The average soluble solids content is 15.0 °Brix, and might up to 18.5 °Brix usually. After naming, melon ”Tainan No. 11” had successfully completed all the requirements set by Plant Variety Rights Committee on 15 July 2009, and then transferred the Plant Variety Rights on to ”Hosheng seed company” later on 25 November 2009.
