「南風」初識苦澀味－臺博館藏屏東獅子鄉排灣族19世紀末相關古文書研究

摘要

1874年牡丹社事件結束後，次年清政府正式重新區劃南臺灣，於包括南排灣群原住民領域在內的南國之地設立「恒春縣」，今屏東縣獅子鄉為此新設地方行政體系的一部分。清政府為展現統治的格局與效能，施行許多意在逐漸改變原住民傳統社會與文化風格的多層面、互有關聯的管理措施，獅子鄉排灣族原住民社會也自此步入「非自主性」社會文化變遷的路途。本文即以國立臺灣博物館藏官方古文書為素材，透過社會格局相異的歷史族群—南排灣群與漢族—之勢力交會而形成的各種文化接觸印象、權力轉換與衝突事例，以初步呈現、說明獅子鄉排灣族社會在19世紀末牡丹社事件之後所面臨的廣泛社會歷史氛圍，以及其中涉及的族群關係、文化變遷議題。

Following the concluding note of the Bootang (Botan) Incident in 1874, the Qing Administration officially rezoned southern Taiwan to facilitate the local Heng-chuen County, a southern land that included the indigenous Southern Paiwan territory, which the nowadays Shihzih Township, Pingtung County was a constituent part. Numerous multi-level and correlated management measures aiming for gradually changing the traditional social and cultural formulations of the indigenous people were taken to bring to light the full scale and effectiveness of the Administration, henceforth commencing the involuntary socio-cultural change of the Paiwan tribe in Shihzih Township ever since. This article, while incorporating relevant official antique documents in the National Taiwan Museum's collection to delineate impressions of cultural contact and events of transference and conflicts of dominant power, in terms of the convergence of social forces of different ethnic groups with diverse scales of social complexity, i.e. the southern Paiwan and the Han Chinese, primarily seeks to illuminate the general socio-historical atmosphere of the late 19^(th) century Paiwan tribesmen in Shihzih Township, and its relevant issues of ethnic relations and cultural change as a result of the Bootang Incident.
