Morphometric Studies on the Testes in the Yellow-Bellied Country-Rat (Rattus Losea Swinhoe) With Particular Reference to the Seasonal Changes

小黃腹鼠睪丸形態統計之季節性變化

摘要


本論文是以光學顯微鏡觀察成熟小黃腹鼠睪丸與季節變化關係,希望了解此種台灣野生齧齒類生殖器官,並與其他種類比較其異同。雖然,本研究顯示,整年之睪丸精小管均製造成熟精子,並且出現於副睪尾端。不過,使用形態統計方法測量精小管直徑之各月、各季變化,具有波動現象:夏季(六月、七月)最小,秋季與冬季最大(十月~十二月),春季(二月~四月)界於其間。顯示,小黃腹鼠睪丸精小管製造精子之能力具有季節變化,此種出現在秋、冬之較高性活動現象,可能與此時之雨量較少、氣溫適宜和食物來源豐富有關綜上研究,顯示熱帶野生小黃腹鼠之製造精子和雄性素能力具有季節性:春、秋、冬三季旺盛。此現象可能與台灣南部之環境狀況,尤其是降雨量不平均,溫度偏高以及田間作物變遷等因素息息相關。

Testes of the adult yellow-bellied country-rat were studied with morphometric light micrscopy with special reference to the seasonal changes. Although mature spermatozoa were produced in the seminiferous tubules and present in the lumina of caudae epididymides of all rats studied, however, the seminiferous tubule diameter (STD) in months and in seasons after analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed fluctuations: minimal in summer animals (June and July), maximal in autumn and winter animals (October to December), and intermediate in spring animals (February to April). These data indicate that the activites of spermatogenesis have seasonal variations, i.e. active in spring, autumn and winter, less active in wummer. It is also suggested that these variations are possibly related to rainfall, temperature, and food availability in southern part of Taiwan.
