The aim of this project was to use multiple strategies to improve the completion rate of central catheter placement and catheter care among newborns. From September 1 to 14, 2017, the placement completion rate for central catheters was 62.50% and the central catheter care completion rate was 66.48%. From February 1 to April 30, 2018, we implemented a care bundle comprising central catheter educational and training courses and hand hygiene reminders for doctors and nurses to improve the completion rate of central catheter placement and care. The completion rate for central catheter placement was increased from 62.50% to 93.75%, and the care completion rate was increased from 66.48% to 97.95%. Based on these findings, the multiple strategies adopted in this project effectively improved the placement and care completion rate for central catheters. In the future, we will establish e-learning courses that can be used as a reference for medical staff.
