Preparation and Characterization of PMMA/Layered Double Hydroxides Nanocomposites

摘要


本研究以水熱合成法合成人工無機層狀雙氫氧化物(Layer Double Hydroxide, LDH),並將此有機官能化的Mg-Al-K2 LDH與PMMA混成,藉由自由基聚合反應(Radical Polymrization)在層間發生的特性,製備奈米級複合材料(Nanocomposite Materials)。此奈米複材經穿透式電子顯微鏡(TEM)的鑑定其Mg-Al-K2 LDH分散於高分子基材中的型態是以剝離型態(Exfoliated)及插層型態(Intercalated)兩種形式存在於高分子基材中,亦由此其具有良好的分散性使複合材料在於熱性質與機械性質隨著K2-LDH含量的增加而有顯著的提升。

Poly (methyl methacrylate)/MgAl layer double hydroxides (PMMA/MgAl LDH) nanocomposites were synthesized by in situ free radical polymerization with the organic modified MgAl-K2 LDH in the methyl methacrylate monomer and the initiator, benzoyl peroxide. The layered staking structure of MgAl-K2 LDH is delaminated while the polymerization occurred between the layered galleries. The TEM images indicate that there are two types of nanocomposites. One is the intercalated PMMA/MgAl-K2-LDH nanocomposites and the other is the exfoliated one. Therefore, the PMMA/MgAl-K2 LDH nanocomposites do not only have well dispersed MgAl-K2-LDH in PMMA system, but also have enhanced thermal and mechanical properties as compared to the pure PMMA resin.
