In response to the central segregation problem of high carbon steel ([C]>0.8 wt.%) in continuous casting process, CSC adopted a series of control measures, including superheat of molten steel, casting speed, electromagnetic stirring parameters, and soft reduction process. According to the evaluation of its central segregation quality index C/C_0, the overall C/ C_0 ≦ 1.1 pass rate increased from 50% to over 90%. The centerline segregation defect of high carbon is obviously improved in bloom continuous casting.
