The objectives of this study arc to investigate the changes of agricultural trade in Taiwan, and to analyze agricultural products with trade competitiveness and issues of agricultural trade after joining WTO. The findings show that the agricultural exports gradually changed front basic products to high quality or high value products. The structure of agricultural imports did not significantly change, which are mostly goods for people's livelihood, especially in gross grains. By the active assistance of government for international marketing, some products with export competitiveness or potential, which are related to souse fishes, fruits, flowers, and seedlings, will open up new era. For enhancing the agricultural competitiveness after joining WTO, it is necessary to reduce the related issues about the impacts of agricultural imports, such as inspections and product safety. Moreover it is also necessary to overcome the issues related to agricultural exports, such as branding and international marketing.
