由於檸檬桉(Eucalyptus citriodora)與細葉桉(Eucalyptus tereticornis)外觀特徵的相似度高,若非經由專業的植物學家鑑定,易將此兩樹種混淆。因此本研究採用乙酸乙酯進行檸檬桉樹葉精油之萃取,並透過氣相層析圖譜分析該精油的化學組成後得知,檸檬桉樹葉精油主成分香茅醛(Citronellal)之滯留時間為9.8 min,而細葉桉樹葉精油主成分桉葉油醇(Eucalyptol)之滯留時間則為5.5 min。在八個具有檸檬桉標示牌之處所採集到的樹葉中,僅有兩處樹葉精油呈現出明顯的香茅醛響應訊號,其餘六處均不含香茅醛但卻顯示出桉葉油醇響應訊號。比對細葉桉之氣相層析圖譜後發現,上述六處所蒐集到的樹葉樣品,應有可能為細葉桉樹葉,需更進一步委請植物專家做鑑定。
Due to the highly similar morphological features between Eucalyptus citriodora and Eucalyptus tereticornis, it is easy to misidentify these two plants without professional botanists. In this study, the analysis of chemical composition in the leaf essential oil of E. citriodora extracted with ethyl acetate was conducted by gas chromatography. The analytical results revealed the retention times of citronellal (major constituent in the leaf essential oil of E. citriodora) and eucalyptol (major constituent in the leaf essential oil of E. tereticornis) were 9.8 min and 5.5 min, respectively. Among the eight leaf collection spots with nameplate of E. citriodora, only two leaf essential oils showed obvious signal response of citronellal, and the major signal response of other six leaf essential oils is eucalyptol. By comparing with the GC chromatograms of E. tereticornis leaf essential oil, the aforementioned six collected leaf samples might possible be from E. tereticornis, it is necessary to identify the species by professional botanists.
