It is apparent that wildlife viewing recreation is becoming popular. Many nature areas face various challenges from visitor characteristics and use patterns. This study reports data from a mail questionnaire research conducted for Black-faced Spoonbill habitat in southern Taiwan. The primary intent of this study is to understand the visitor characteristics, use pattern, and the constraints of activity participation in the study area. The data indicates that the majority of visitors come from southern Taiwan, more than 80% of sample stay on the habitat less than 5 hours, bird-watching and sightseeing are the major use patterns. The issue of constraints in coming to the habitat and activity participation on site are explored through the examination of different use pattern and the with extent of involvement. The findings reveal that high involvement birders confront with less constraints than low involvement birders do The main constraints for high involvement birders are the obligation of work and family. The results also tentatively indicate that membership of birder organization is the determination of different constraints confronted by different involvement birder groups.
