It is definitely a paradigm shift from batch reactions to continuous manufacturing with microreactors in chemical industries which is also a strategic revolution in industry 4.0. The shift is driven by intrinsic safety advantages, cost reduction and continuous quality improvement. Through the introduction of microreactors, especially the breakthrough in photoreactions, as well as the applications in different chemical and pharmaceutical industries, the transformation to continuous manufacturing by microreactors would be expected in the foreseeable future.
