This paper proposes the idea of humanistic clinical studies (humanistic clinic) as the foundation and direction to facilitate the reform of humanistic curriculum, instruction and research. In Sept. 2009, a preliminary meeting, which gathered scholars from arts, literature, Chinese, philosophy, religious study and social sciences (anthropology, clinical and counseling psychology, psychoanalysis, indigenous psychology, social work, and nursing etc.), was held in the Buddhist Tzu Chi University to explore hermeneutically the meanings and dimensions of humanities-clinical studies. Concluding the results from that discussion, this paper further articulates the epistemology, the praxis, the technique, and the strategy of the teaching and research of humanistic clinical studies (humanistic clinic) so as to advance the possible route for its development.
