Clinical Observations on One Case of Sequelae of Apoplexy Treated with Acupuncture

A 65-year old woman with CVA and treated with western medicine for 5 years came to Taipei City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine to receive acupuncture therapy for her sequelae of apoplexy. She complained paralysis and stiffness on her right neck and cheek, paralysis, tightness and weakness on her upper and lower limbs of the right side. After receiving acupuncture therapy regularly and continuously for 2 years and 3 months, she felt that her whole body had freed up, and that the tendon knot had gradually loosened. In the beginning, the area of tightness and paralysis shrank into lines, and then the lines receded and disappear finally. This kind of progressive pattern reflects Jing-Luo Theory. Recovery begins in the deep Jing-Luo and gradually spreads to the surface of the body.
