摘要

本篇從性别、社會角色與生命週期的角度探討憂鬱症狀的盛行與分佈。其結果顯示目前國人的憂鬱症狀，除女性高於男性外，年輕及年老人口亦高於中年人口。以社會角色而言，母親角色對女性憂鬱症狀有不利影響，父親角色卻有正向作用。多重角色對男性爲正面影響，但是不論職業婦女或家庭主婦，其憂鬱症狀風險均高於男性，但婦女本身之間卻無顯着差異。對以上的發現，除了理論上的探討外，本文並針對「缺乏重要社會角色」及「角色負擔過高」的高危險人口群，建議心理衛生工作的方向。

The paper reviews epidemiological studies and explanatory models related to gender, social roles and depression symptoms. We conclude that women in Taiwan have a higher depression prevalence than men. The younger and the elderly also have higher depression risks than that of the middle aged group. In terms of social role effect, being a mother has a negative effect on women's mental health, but being a father has a protective effect. In addition, multiple roles help men's mental health but not on women's condition. In this paper, the mental health related policy applications are also discussed.
