Electrical conductivity of milk is dependent on the ionic concentration in the milk. As dairy cows suffer from mastitis, change of electrical conductivity of its quarter milk would occur. Therefore, variation of electrical conductivity of quarter milk could be used to inspect whether dairy cows suffer with mastitis or not. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship among ionic concentration of chloride, somatic cell count, and electrical conductivity for healthy and infected dairy cows. Furthermore, electrical conductivity threshold and ratio of electrical conductivity would be use to examine specificity of healthy quarter, sensitivity of infected quarter, and effect of milking time on electrical conductivity of quarter milk as dairy cows suffering from mastitis. The analysis results of this study could be a basis for developing an on line inspection system to determine the electrical conductivity of dairy cow mastitis for domestic dairy farmers.
