CDNI-內容傳輸網路介接的標準發展現況

Current Standardization State of Content Delivery Networks Interconnection

摘要


近年隨著網路頻寬、硬體設備的進步,以及使用者行為的改變,透過網際網路接收大流量視訊媒體的需求激增,內容傳輸網路(CDN)的市場規模隨之呈現顯著且穩定的成長,許多網路服務供應商(NSP)也利用自身的網路資源而加入CDN的市場競爭。在此情況下,內容傳輸網路介接(CDNI)成為眾網路服務供應商可以低成本的方式,擴大自身CDN服務區域及提高服務能力的解決方案。本文針對網際網路工程組(IETF)在目前對於CDNI標準化的起草設計概況,包含CDNI的應用例以及CDNI的標準化架構與流程,進行簡要的整理與說明,期望能引起台灣相關業者對於CDNI的重要性、應用性與設計原理的注意。

With the progress of networking bandwidth and hardware of end devices, and with the change of user behavior, users' demands of watching videos are fast increasing, resulting in heavy Internet traffic and the significant growth of market size of content delivery network (CDN) service. Therefore, recently many network service providers (NSP) also provide CDN service, based on their own networking resources. In this condition, content delivery networks interconnection (CDNI) becomes a low-cost solution to extending the footprint and to enhancing the capability of NSP CDN service. In this study, we focus on the current IETF drafts of CDNI standardization to give a simple and concise introduction, with the hope of attracting related service providers in Taiwan to pay attention to CDNI.
