並列摘要

This report presents a study of ten medical students and interns with standard vision on the cycloplegic and mydriatic effect of ”Mydrin-P”. It is a combination of 0.5% tropicamide with 0.5% Phenylephrine. With three instillations of ”Mydrin-P” every 5 minutes, a marked cycloplegic effect was observed 5 minutes after the completion of instillation. A maximum cycloplegic effect was reached from 20 to 60 minutes after instillation. During this period of time the mean value of the accommodation was 1.00 diopter. The accommodation began to recover after 60 minutes and nearly complete recovery was observed after eight hours. The volunteer examinees could read after two hours. The maximum mydriatic effect of ”Mydrin-P” was gained 30 to 90 minutes after instillation of the drug. The diameter of the pupil reached from a mean of 3.1 mm before the instillation to 8.2mm during the period of maximum mydriatic effect. After eight hours mydriatic effect still remained. The pupils recovered their proper sizes 24 hours after instillation. ”Mydrin-P” showed rapid cycloplegic as well as mydriatic effect. The cycloplegic effect appeared earlier than the mydriatic effect which lasted longer than the former.
