摘要

本文以瞭解台灣女性科學家及其相關的議題爲出發點，同時借自西方女性主義的科學批評與辯論，來探討當代台灣「女性與科學」所能衍生出的意義。研究內容是根據國科會科技人才資料，以其中分布在自然科學諸領域的476位女性科學家爲問卷調查對象，並輔以其他相關的統計資料。問卷內容涉及與女性科學家相關的諸面向包括：族群分布、年齡、婚姻狀況、在學術體系中的地位、研究活動、學科差異、學術溝通模式、形象與特質等等。此次問卷結果共回收240份，經過細緻的小分類分析及部份女性科學家們的經驗說法，在這個議題上的發現，不但包括當代台灣的社會脈絡之下的許多特殊經驗，更多異於西方之處。日後的發展將可包括對女性科學家的深度訪談，及對更廣大的男性科學家社群的瞭解。

This paper discusses the meanings of ”gender and science” in contemporary Taiwan. It focuses on the contemporary Taiwan Women scientists and the related issues by way of the perspectives of Western feminism's critics of science. The sample of this study is the 476 women scientists registered in Taiwan's National Science Foundation, and we base our study on the returned 240 questionnaires from them. In the structure of the questionnaire, we extensively discuss the ethinic distribution, career history, marriage situation, their positions in the academic system, their self-perceived images and special qualities as women scientists. Form detailed quantitative considerations and analyses of their writing responses to our questions, we not only come to understand their special experiences in various social-gender contexts, but also find their differences form some western situations of ”women in science”. Through the experience of Taiwan's women scientists, this study would also make contributions to the debates about the possibility and specificity of the Women's science/feminism's science.
