The main effect of the advertising map is to make the location and the image in maps present clearly. For this reason, it is required simplification and exaggeration skills during maps making processes. But nowadays, design and map production of advertising maps always constrained by main theme, producer's cartographic knowledge, etc., over simplification and over exaggeration had been made in advertising maps. In this paper, 30 advertising maps for new building cases in Taipei and Tauyuan are collected from newspapers, magazines, advertisement senders and mailbox in buildings. Through the check by compared with other maps, this paper will examines reveals the characters of advertising maps in Taiwan.
