Sloshing at low fillings in depressed conditions may involve the impact of free surface with entrapped air on the tank wall. During the air-entrapped impact, the compressibility of air leads to high frequency oscillation of the impact pressure, and therefore significantly affects the impact process. To simulate such impact phenomena, a finite volume method is developed Numerical simulations are performed to investigate the impact of the free surface with the entrapped air on the tank wall. The numerical model reproduces the major oscillation behavior of the impact pressure by comparison with experiments. It turns out that the computed leading peak pressure agree well with the experimental data available, while the oscillation frequency of the pressure is underestimated. This is probably due to the three-dimensional effects of the experiments.
