Many studies showed that there are significant association between job strain and cardiovascular disease. The job strain was defined as high psychological demands and low decision latitude on the job. It could be determined by a few short questions. Schnall et al, using a case-control study, showed that there are highly correlation between the job strain and workplace diastolic blood pressure and left ventricular mass index in male subjects. Light et al found that the mean workplace blood pressure was higher in higher occupational status and greater skill discretion male subjects. After controlling other factors, the morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular disease was raised up among the subjects with high job demands and low job decision latitude. The symptoms of cardiovascular disease was also apparently among the subjects with higher job strain. From this review, we could find that there are closely association between job strain and cardiovascular disease and further longitudinal study is needed.
