小米新品種臺東9號之育成

Breeding of New Foxtail Millet Cultivar, Taitung No. 9

摘要


小米新品種臺東9號係以臺東選2號為母本,臺東7號為父本進行雜交,之後採用譜系法進行分離世代選拔,培育表現優良之後裔品系,進行各級比較試驗、區域試驗及特性檢定等,於2012年6月1日完成命名。臺東9號屬短穗型品種,春作生育日數僅128天,且春作產量達2,455公斤/公頃,具有生育期短及高產之優點,並對玉米螟及葉銹病等病蟲害耐受性佳,極具推廣潛力,未來將配合栽培技術觀摩等活動積極推廣。

Taitung No. 9 millet was selected from the hybrid progenies of TS2 as female parent, and TT7 as male parent by pedigree method, and had been through a series of comparative and regional experiments until 2012 spring crop. The results show the form of spike of TT9 was short spindle type. The advantages of TT9 include short growth stage, good tolerance of corn borers and leaf rust, and relatively stable and high yield. The average yield in spring crop is up to 2,455 kg/ha, which is 15% higher than that of TT8, suggesting great potential for extension. TT9 was registered on June 1st, 2012. This variety would be initiatively distributed with cultivation demonstration activities in the future.
