The purpose of this research was to develop the female dancers of different age whose participation motives questionnaire, and to investigate their participation motives. On the research, there are seven groups divided as elementary school, junior high school, high school, college, young, middle & older adults. The subjects were from the dancing experiment class of each school in Taiwan, and dance training schools or associations in each place (N=622), and the implement used was ”Participation Motives Questionnaire” which was modified by the researcher personally. Factor analysis identified that aspect of competition, social status, affiliation, energy release and physical fitness are five factors driving dancer's participation motives & the analysis for general linear modle shows that there are significant difference on dancer's participation motives for different ages. Finally, the researcher will discuss the discovery related to the recognition-developmental approach to those participation motives.
