Media and sport, to a great extent, are symbiosis. Nevertheless, in most of the sport media such as newspaper, magazines and many other publications have often shaped the way in which viewers' and readers' perceptions toward athletes of different sexes. This particular study is based on a purposive sampling method. The news articles and pictures used for this specific study are reports of the 26th Atlanta Olympic Games event from China Times and Min Sheng Pao between July 21,1996to August 6,1996.Both features of athletes and content of articles are analyzed. The main findings of the study are listed below. 1.Both newspapers used considerable space to cover athletes pictures. 2.There is no great difference in the frequency of appearance in terms of the proportion of athletes to both sexes. However, Min Sheng Pao have found to have more coverage on male athletes than females athletes. 3.Both newspapers found to have different interests in selecting and reporting at athletes of both sexes and different events. 4.Color pictures were used mainly for female athletes than male athletes was found in both newspapers. 5.Color pictures were highly used for sports related to physical aesthetics such as gymnastics, of particular, for female athletes. Suggestions are also made at the end of this particular research paper.
