A Parametric Investigation on the Use of Fluorinated Greaseproofing Chemicals in Molded Paper Products

紙模產業近年來中國及臺灣地區蓬勃發展,主要應用在紙盤、湯碗、便當盒、速食容器等方面,其主要的品質需求為抗油度及抗水度。本研究針對氟素防油劑在紙模應用的操作參數:木漿配比、低分子量強陽電性凝聚劑、AKD上膠劑、高分子量陰電性絮凝劑等變數對於抗油程度及抗水程度的影響,進行了解。實驗結果顯示,針葉樹漿的防油效果及防水效果較闊葉樹漿為佳。鋁離子含量高於30mg L^(-1),其含量越高,對於氟素防油劑的干擾越大,吸油度及吸水度呈現相同的趨勢。過度上膠對於氟素防油劑會產生干擾,進而降低防油效果。紙模製程的濕端化學機構與傳統圓網抄紙的相類似,可以低分子量強陽電性凝聚劑及高分子量陰電性絮凝劑依序來調整濕端電荷程度,以達到最適的防油程度與防水程度。

There are booming markets in molded paper products in China and Taiwan in recent years due to a ban on the use of Styrofoam containers. Products in the form of paper dishes, soup bowls, lunch boxes, and various fast food containers all have the basic quality requirements of being greaseproof and waterproof. This study investigated the operational parameters of fluorinated greaseproofing chemicals on molded paper products, such as the effects of the blending ratio of softwood and hardwood pulps; various doses of a low molecular weight and highly cationic coagulant; degrees of AKD sizing; various doses of a high molecular weight anionic flocculent, etc., on the degrees of greaseproofing and waterproofing provided. Results suggest that softwood pulp had better greaseproofing and waterproofing efficiencies than did hardwood pulp. Aluminum ions in excess of 30 mg L^(-1) proportionally interfered with the fluorochemical, and the degrees of greaseproofing and waterproofing of the products showed the same trend. Oversizing had an adverse effect on the fluorochemical and tended to lower the degree of greaseproofing. The wet- end chemical mechanism of paper molding was found to be similar to that of traditional cylinder formers. Thus, with application of a low molecular weight and highly cationic coagulant followed by a high molecular weight anionic flocculent, optimal degree of greaseproofing and waterproofing in molded paper products was achieved.
