遠距教學環境:支援系統的發展與評估

Distance Education: Development and Evaluation of a Supporting System

摘要


遠距教學是藉由傳播媒體突破時空隔閡,使分隔兩地的教師及學生亦可進行教學或學習活動。然而遠距教學雖可不受時空限制,但課後活動方面仍有許多窒礙,例如:作業繳交、成績查詢、師生及同儕間的互動等,因此如何適時提供遠距教學教師及學生適當的教學與學習支援,是遠距教學成功與否的重要因素。本研究藉由探究遠距教學所遭遇之問題,將教師及學生之需求作一全盤的考量,並參考各類似系統之設計經驗,規劃及建立-WWW環境下的教學支援系統,讓遠距教學師生,不須具備電腦知識背景,亦能方便地使用。透過此系統,教師不必自己開發程式也能提供學生一個輔助學習的網站,讓學生能獲得許多學習上的協助。爲了解及評估本研究發展的遠距教學支援系統設計是否適當,共進行了兩次的實驗評估。第一次評估主要用以測試各項功能,並據以改進以進行第二次評估工作。實驗評估結果顯示,整體上,使用者對本系統有不錯的評價,認爲操作簡便,可輔助學生學習及協助教師教學及管理。

The use of telecommunication technologies make it possible to carry out instructional and learning activities at great destances. With distance education, the space and time constraints associated with traditional classroom teaching are overcome. However, distance education also creates new problems. Collection of homework, posting of grades, interactions between the instructor and the students all become more difficult. Thus, a suitable classroom support system is critical to the success of teaching and learning at a distance. In this paper, we present a wed-based model of a distance education support system. The model is based on previous and existing systems reported in the literature, the problems reported, and analyses of teachers' and students' needs. The web-based system described required no special computer skills to operate. Finally, two experiments to evaluate the completeness and the user-friendliness of the system are reported. The experiment results showed that overall, the users gave high remarks to this system. The system was easy to use and it indeed was seen as fostering learning and helping teachers manage the chores associated with distance education courses.
