This study aims to explore the key factors of industry operation and their influences on global logistics through value chain for Taiwan grouper industry. The main research areas contain Tainan, Kaohsiung and Pingtung and etc. In order to achieve our research objective, this study uses econometric methods apply statistical analysis. Reliability, validity and factor analysis were conducted by SPSS to extract the main factors of industry operation, value chain and global logistics. The structural equations model was analyzed using the LISREL computer package and path coefficients were estimated by maximum likelihood estimation for detecting the relationships among these three constructs. The empirical results reveal that the determinants related to industry operation including production inputs, market conditions, industrial structure and completion strategies and related supporting industries, and the factors related to value chain consisting of main and supported activities would actually affect the global logistics for grouper industry in Taiwan. Furthermore, industry operation has significantly positive effects on value chain creating from main and support activities and in turn, value chain also has significantly positive effects on global logistics. Value chain is important intermediary between industry operation and global logistics. Through value chain as a mediator, industry operation on Taiwanese grouper industry can work better on global logistics and effects on global logistics will be larger. Basically, these empirical results can provide the useful information for production and marketing suggestions to grouper operators and policy implication to government agencies.
