It was difficult to restore with implant in the posterior region of upper jaw because of the inadequate bone volume and quality. And it is no longer an absolute contraindication in this area today. However, there are still some potential risks while implantation in upper posterior alveolar ridge. One of them is the displacement of dental implant into maxillary sinus. Comprehensive presurgical examinations, precise diagnosis, and the surgeon's experiences may have influence on the incidence of these risks. In this article, a case of displacement of dental implant into maxillary sinus was presented. We also discussed the possible occurrence reasons and the ways how to resolve and avoid it.
