作者從眾多有關紀實攝影的文獻書籍中，分析紀實攝影的源流以及演變的兩個面向，以及綜合許多學者研究攝影史的成果，釐清「紀實攝影」的基本概念與特徵，期待各地攝影、藝術相關學術界，在討論「紀實攝影」概念上，不再只是在名詞文義上或定義上重點討論，應該多關注及研究新時代的攝影師及藝術創作者，在拍攝「紀實攝影」作品時所呈現的各種新紀實攝影概念，了解年輕攝影創作者的創新觀念，能真實接受時代進步而變化多端的創作方式和影像後製技術，以及持續關注「紀實攝影」的持續演變過程和在社會上的影響力。

Through extensive research into the literature and books about documentary photography, the author analyzed the origin and evolution of documentary photography and, by reviewing scholars' achievements in the history of photography, clarified the fundamentals and characteristics of documentary photography. The author hoped that academic discussions on documentary photography in the fields of photography and arts could go beyond the terminology and definitions. Emphasis should be placed on new photographers and art creators, new concepts of documentary photography demonstrated in the process of filming documentary works, understanding of young photography creators' innovative ideas, and genuine acceptance of the variable, diverse approaches to creation and visual postproduction as a result of technology advancement. Continuous attention must be paid to the constant evolution of documentary photography and its influence on society.
