Russian Mentality through the Prism of the Key Word "авось"
透過關鍵詞"авось"的分析看俄羅斯民族心理

This paper aims to explore one of the Russian key words, ”авось” (usually translated in English as ”perhaps”, ”maybe”), which reflects the Russian worldview. The author focuses on the analysis of both lexical concept and lexical background of the word ”авось” to expose the semantic components, significant for further and deep understanding of this word. In this paper, the author also compares the Russian word ”авось” with its analogs in Chinese language to show the divergence in semantics. This comparison could assist in accentuating the semantic features of the Russian key word ”авось”.
